Direction Finders for Air Traffic Control (ATC)
The RT-1000 is used as an ATC navigation aid that allows controllers on the ground to transmit QDMs to the pilot or verify position reports. Since this involves external bearings, the controller on the ground can help a pilot navigate without using the navigation equipment on board. This can be extremely important in critical situations involving inexperienced pilots who are no longer able to operate the equipment on board properly.
Another application permits integration of position information into the radar display. This makes it possible to assign a radio message to the right aircraft (target), which is extremely helpful when many aircraft are shown on the screen. The RT-1000 (PA030) thereby makes a significant contribution to enhanced air-space safety.
