Direction Finders for SAR at Sea

SAR When SAR personnel receive an alarm by radio, satellite telephone or Cospas-Sarsat signals, precise localization of the individuals in distress represents the biggest problem. Darkness or poor visibility conditions can prolong rescue activities or even make such activities impossible.

If the individual or vessel in distress is equipped with an emergency beacon, a direction finder system permits quick, reliable localization. The faster recovery is completed, the greater the chances of survival of the victim, especially in cold water. Speed is what determines whether a rescue mission is a success or a failure.

Our direction finder systems were designed with the specific requirements of SAR missions at sea in mind:

  • High reception sensitivity since emergency beacons are often far away and/or transmit with little power
  • All necessary functionalities for civilian and military SAR missions
  • MOB functions to ensure safety of SAR personnel
  • NMEA interface to permit system integration
  • Robust, waterproof housing
